Happy Merdeka Day 2021

Dear Members and Friends,

Merdeka Day (or Independence Day) marks the independence of the Federation of Malaya on 31 August 1957 from the British Empire. Malaysia was later formed in 1963 when Malaya federated with Sabah, Sarawak and (originally) Singapore. Merdeka Day is observed as Malaysia's national day as it was originally intended that the new Federation of Malaysia would commence on 31 August 1963. This was delayed until 16 September which is now also celebrated as Malaysia Day.
