Ken Ong OAM

First elected to the Melbourne City Council in November 2008 and re-elected in October 2012. Previously Chairperson on the Planning Committee and Deputy Chair of the Major Projects Committee and the Finance and Governance Committee. Also chaired the Disability Advisory Committee. Represented the City of Melbourne on the Committee of Melbourne, the Inner Melbourne Action Plan (IMAP) group, the Metropolitan Waste Management Group and Fishermans Bend Ministerial Advisory Committee.

Involved in Community Activities since 1984. Chinese Association of Victoria -President 1998-2001; Federation of Chinese Associations - Chairperson of Chinese New Year Festival 1999-2007; Australian Chinese Events Committee 1997-current- event manager of the Chinese New Year Charity Ball and Treasurer since 2006 and Committee Member of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Victoria.
Supporter of Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, National Gallery of Victoria's Asian Art, Murdoch Children's Research Institute, Very Special Kids, TLC for Kids and Salvation Army.

Awarded The Lord Mayor's Community Services Award in 2007, Lifetime Achievement Award for Community Leadership by the World Chinese Economic Forum in 2012 and the Paul Harris Fellowship Award by Rotary International in 2013. Awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) on Australia Day, 26 January 2016.

Enjoys Golf, Gardening, music, cooking, good dining and reading.

Comes from a family of 13 (11 boys and 2 girls). Married. 2 children.

Future Kids Child Care is a family owned and operated group in the Wyndham area of Melbourne, with centres in Saltwater in Point Cook South and in Wyndham Vale-Manor Lakes. New centres are being built at West Tarneit ( on Leakes Road) and in Williams Landing at the Shopping Centre. The West Tarneit centre will start operating in October 2016 and the Williams Landing centre will be open by January 2017.

The owners, Ken and Lin, have been in this industry for over 20 years and strongly believes in a personalised care for all the children in their centres. They are passionate about ensuring that the children will develop well for the future.
