AMBC Victoria 2022 wrap up
We hit the ground running in 2022 with a packed series of events. Uninterrupted by the lockdowns of previous years, we were able to roll out our calendar and it seemed like people were keen to congregate in person again.
The activities run by the Council included the very popular Ladies’ Breakfast, the ‘Malaysia: Halal and Beyond’ seminar series in partnership with Global Victoria, several networking events, and our seminar on successful childcare centre development. We were also able to finally hold our annual yum cha lunch, Malaysia Day dinner and end of year function.
In addition, we contributed to and presented at the World Halal Business Conference held in Melbourne for the first time, hosted a delegation from the Malaysian Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities and represented the Council during several discussion groups and forums with government and industry. I was also fortunate to be able to travel to Kuala Lumpur in August to meet with our sister organisation the Malaysia Australia Business Council as well as the Australian Trade Commissioners to Malaysia.
2022 saw the Council welcome two new board members, Steven Leong and David Klingberg. Steven and David have been invaluable in their contribution to AMBC Victoria this year.
I am very thankful to the Board comprising Vice President Josh Chye, Treasurer Trevor Haines, Shok Kuan Ho, Meileng Tam, David Klingberg, Steven Leong and Ken Ong OAM for their fantastic work and support throughout the year.
Our first function of the New Year will be a Yum Cha lunch on 2 February at Red Emperor in Melbourne's Chinatown. I encourage everyone to attend.
We will also shortly release more information on our upcoming seminars and activities in 2023 which also commence in February. Don’t forget to check out our calendar of events as it is updated (click here).
